Its litigation department has more than 25 years of experience. It is focused on the following practice areas: financial and security law; bankruptcy and insolvency, administrative-constitutional law, civil and commercial law.
Its members have advised and represented both domestic and foreign companies and the Mexican Government, mainly in the Water, Construction, Antitrust, Urban Development, Energy, Electricity, Financial-Securities, Infrastructure, Marine, Ports, Insurance and Bonds, Health -pharmaceuticals, laboratories and medical equipment producers-, Telecommunications, Broadcasting and Transportation sectors.

Regulatory Services.
In the key sectors -regulated services- JBV advice in the corporate and regulatory aspects for the fulfillment of obligations before authorities in accordance with applicable legislation, and for the prevention of litigation and controversies between private individuals or authorities. We also counsel in the process for obtaining concessions, permits, licenses and authorizations, and during the participation in processes of government bids and tenders, during all of their stages.
The members of the Firm have advised and represented national and domestic and foreign companies and the Mexican Government, mainly in Water, Infrastructure, Construction and Urban Development, Energy, Electricity, Antitrust, Financial and Securities, Maritime, Marine and Ports, Telecommunications, Insurance and Bonds, as well as in the Health sector -pharmaceuticals, laboratories and medical devices producers-, and Transportation.
Corporate, Labor-Corporate Aspects and Intellectual Property
JBV advises on strategic alliances, commercial agreements, licensing agreements, technology transfer agreements, distribution agreements, labor agreements, labor regulations, incorporation of companies, activities of commercial associations, relations and rights between shareholders, application of the corporate regime and applicable regulations on foreign investment and economic competition, exit strategy, sale of assets, mergers, spin-offs and acquisitions, patents and trademarks, drafting of contracts in general, formalization of dismissals before the conciliation and arbitration boards, among others.
Litigation.
JBV has a consolidated litigation area with more than 20 years of experience in administrative-constitutional, financial-stock market and civil-commercial matters.
Administrative-Constitutional Litigation.
The Firm advises on preventive or administrative proceedings before the authority itself; state patrimonial liability, public actions -construction matters in Mexico City-, as well as nullity proceedings before the Administrative Justice Court (local or federal), or direct or indirect amparo proceedings (constitutionals trials) before the District Courts in Administrative Matters, or those Specialized in Economic Competition, Broadcasting and Telecommunications, as appropriate.
Securities and Financial. Civil-Commercial Litigation.
JBV litigates before district or common courts in Mexico City or several states of Mexico in litigation related to financial and stock exchange matters, civil liability, maquila service contracts, conflicts between shareholders, maritime, special lawsuits for the execution of bonds, executive, judicial and extrajudicial collection, collective or class actions, moral damages (emotional distress), seizures, sports centers, hotel industry, among others.
Litigation partner, Yamil Jose, has a recognized prestige for having achieved the attraction of several cases in the aforementioned matters before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, either before the First or Second Chamber, demonstrating the importance and transcendence that merited the knowledge and resolution of the matter by our highest court, in the end.

Representative Matters Litigation
In recent years, the following have been handled in our practice areas.
Administrative-constitutional.
Representation in a class action for the recovery of a mutual fund on pensions and retirement of (CFE state-owned- company) personnel for an approximate amount of 1,900 million MXN -pending to date to be solved-.
Civil and Commercial.
Processing commercial litigations derived from the international sales and purchase of goods before district judges, such as telescopic panels; medical equipment; turbines for electricity, mines and railroads, including its related enforcement and exequatur procedures applying the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods and the Mexican Code of Commerce (estimated values between 2 and 3 Million USD).
Conducting trial for compensation for moral damages (emotional distress) derived from the non-performance of the safe deposit box service.
Processing trials for opposition and nullity actions related to conflicts between shareholders.
Concessions. Permits. Authorizations
Advice to companies on regulatory aspects for day-to-day regulatory compliance with the authorities that govern their actions and activities.
Energy and Antitrust.
Favorable representation of Pemex and Pemex-Refinación before the sanction imposed by the Federal Antitrust Commission for more than 650 million MXN in the gasoline and diesel transportation market, and opening of the energy sector. Resolved favorably by the Supreme Court.
Electricity.
Favorable defense in administrative, civil and constitutional matters, against an administrative rescission decreed by the Federal Electricity Commission in a contract for the amount of USD$121,000,000.00. At the time, we successfully obtained the provisional and definitive suspension (injunction).
Health.
Processed favorable constitutional trials for the introduction of medicines and medications to the list of essential medicines, including their labeling and the defense in the advertising of products related to Health.
Intellectual Property.
Conducting of favorable administrative litigation for the nullity of trademark registration due to improper use, as well as commercial litigation related to the claim of 40% of the sales due to improper use of the trademark. Claim with an estimated value of 60 million pesos.
Infrastructure and Water Sectors.
Obtained a favorable resolution for the extension of the Marina concession title issued by the Ministry of Communications and Transportation. Obtained suspension and favorable resolution against the total closure imposed by the Environmental Commission (PROFEPA) to a construction site in the federal maritime zone (Embarcadero).
Favorable litigation on the federal maritime-terrestrial zone and land reclaimed from the sea, initiated to the detriment of builders and concessionaires.
Maritime and Marinas.
Processing of Special Maritime Trial for Salvage Remuneration, due to a fire on a tuna vessel. Recovery of ordinary and special salvage remuneration and avoidance of environmental damage (approximately MXN 35 million).
Obtained a favorable resolution for the extension of the marine concession title issued by the Ministry of Communications and Transportation.
Telecommunications.
Advice on regulatory aspects and compliance with obligations required by law in concessions, permits, licenses and authorizations, as well as corporate audits of public telecommunications network concessionaires and permit holders.
Handling of unconstitutionality actions and interconnection disagreements between fixed and mobile operators, as well as national and long distance interconnection rates (Short Messaging Service “SMS”, Calling Party Pays -national and long distance calls-).
Urban Development.
Adequate defense for the declassification of a real state property considered as artistic and cultural heritage (INBA and SEDUVI), as well as favorable litigation for the constitution and defense of Polygons (constructions).
Processing of injunctions in matters of construction and operation of commercial businesses, advice on the application of Urban Development Plans.
